Our Mission
About Us
The Snowmaking Committee of the Friends of Lapham Peak is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to keeping cross-country skiing alive at Lapham Peak Unit, Kettle Moraine State Forest — even when Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate.
Working alongside the Wisconsin DNR, the Committee installed and maintains roughly one mile of manmade snow infrastructure, including a water supply pond, underground piping, high-efficiency snow guns, a high-pressure pump, and a snow cat for grooming.
Lapham Peak is the busiest Wisconsin state park in winter and was awarded Best Cross-Country Ski Trails by the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks for 2011/2012. The trails draw thousands of skiers from Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, and beyond every season.
Funding comes from individual donations, business contributions, grants, and fundraising events. Your support directly covers snowmaking operations, equipment maintenance, and trail improvements.
